Sofie’s signature model “Staygold” is setting new standards for modeling scissors.
Developed to create soft textures for medium-length styles – also in combination with curls – the scissors offer an alternative to the classic fade.
Thanks to the innovative STELLITE blade and the special comb blade, it achieves a softer silhouette and natural highlights that are difficult to achieve with conventional styling scissors.
The ergonomic Z-handle also fits comfortably in the hand and enables effortless, daily handling.

The Stellite® used at MIZUTANI is made by the Deloro Stellite company, and is an exceptional alloy with high levels of resistance to heat and wear and tear. The thought process behind it differs fundamentally from typical steel, and it is also called cobalt-base alloy, as that rare metal makes up more than 50% of its composition. As a result, it is a special material that never rusts. It is often used in parts of jets exposed to severe environments, and also engine components in race cars, and its use has been proven to dramatically improve the working life of engines. This is a special steel that costs more than 30 times the price point of materials used in typical edged tools. At MIZUTANI, this material is used in our highest level of premium products, the STELLITE alloy series.
These are small, precision metal ball bearings with excellent axial load-bearing ability. Due to their design, which enables radial load-bearing as well, scissors open and close smoothly, which both lessens burden on the hands and contributes to a long cutting life. With anti-rust properties and durability as a matter of course, these bearings are a Japanese-made product.
The handles are so designed that they look nonmetallic, alive and organic. You may feel some warmth from the three-dimensional, twisted handles, and once touched, you would not like to part them from your hand.
