One of our goals is to bring the hairdressing family a little closer together in these turbulent times.
How do we want to achieve this? We would like to inform you regularly about the latest trends from Mizutani, report interesting news from the industry and respond to individual questions and requests about hair cutting scissors, events as well as tips and tricks for using scissors.
Before we start with the many exciting topics we have thought about for this format, we would like to introduce ourselves to you in this article. What is the Mizutani Scissors brand? Who is Mizutani Europe? What are our main focuses?
What is the Brand Mizutani Scissors?
Just last year – 2021 – the Mizutani Scissors brand celebrated its 100th birthday.
This round anniversary not only put us in high spirits but also amazed us.
100 years ago, Yorigi Mizutani, a trained hairdresser, set up a small workshop in the heart of Tokyo and began to manufacture hairdressing scissors, thus laying the foundation for the incredible journey of the Mizutani brand. Initially produced only for their own use, the scissors produced by the Mizutani family quickly became an insider’s tip and were known for their exceptional quality.
The demand for this quality increased so rapidly that the second generation – Motokazu Mizutani – began to produce for large companies who all wanted to profit from this quality. It was Hirokazu Mizutani and his incredible interest in hairdressing that brought the Mizutani company closer to the customers again.
It is thanks to him that customers all over the world have such unique and high-quality hair cutting scissors on the market and that Mizutani keeps making customers happy with new designs, luxurious one-offs and special series. Who is Mizutani Europe?
Edina and Michael Peterli started distributing Japanese hairdressing tools in Europe 35 years ago. In addition to setting up hairdressing salons, they have had a strong passion for high-quality Japanese haircutting scissors ever since.
Thanks to this passion, they took over the distribution of Mizutani Scissors exclusively in Europe (except UK & Ireland) about 20 years ago. Since then, they have been a constant in the Mizutani Scissors world and have increasingly expanded and renewed the distribution over the last two decades.
Besides the distribution of Mizutani Scissors, customer service, the organisation of numerous trade fairs and events, Mizutani Europe has also specialised in haircutting seminars.
Together with strong partners such as Cihan Bulut, Jerome Kantner, Jessy Hartsoe, Thomas Walter and many more, Mizutani fans can regularly immerse themselves in the world of creativity and inspiration.Â

What are our focuses?
